DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Mission
The aim
is to gain individuals with the abilities of analytical thinking, and a high
soul for production and entrepreneurship by aiding the graduates to achieve
the power of comprehending, understanding, and reacting swiftly and
accurately to the problems of social, political and economic events at the
national and international dimensions.
Introduction
Department of Business Administration in the faculty of Economics and
Administrative Sciences, with about 1067 students is one of the most numerous
departments among the faculties of the Kocaeli University.
There are
two undergraduate programs as first and second education, four master
programs, three with thesis and one without, and a PhD. program. The PhD
program is organized to include three different scientific branches. The
Institute of Social Sciences carries out the master and Doctorate
educations.
Every
year, about 200 students register in the undergraduate programs, 100 in the
first education and 100 in the second education.
The
number of enrolments in the graduate education is determined in the
beginning of every semester. In the table below, number of graduate, master
and doctorate students are shown as to the branches and gender. |

|
Department of Business Administration is in the Umuttepe main campus of
Kocaeli University. The campus is located on a high hill overlooking the
city of İzmit and The Gulf of East Marmara Sea. The education is given in
the four-store campus building equipped with the latest facilities of the
technology.

Every
education year is composed of fall and spring semesters. The Fall Semester
is between the end of September and the end of February. The Spring Semester
begins at the end of February and finishes in the end of June. |
|

Academic
Structure
|
|
In the
Department of Business Administration there are a total of five main
branches of science with 39 educational staff. In the table below, numbers
of educational staff are shown as to these branches.

In order
to have a bachelor in undergraduate program at least eight semesters of
study is needed. In these programs there is no differentiation according to
the interests of the students in the first five semesters yet, but beginning
with the sixth semester there are intense expertise and discretionary
courses.

|
|
Master
programs are with or without thesis. Participants in the master programs
with thesis have to prepare a thesis after compilation of the two-semester
course program. In program without thesis, which is applied as a second
educational program, a three-semester course program has to go along with
preparing a project. In the Doctorate program, the candidates has to be
successful in the qualification examination after a two-semester course
program and then has to prepare a thesis.

The
duration of the study in undergraduate education is at least eight
semesters, in master program with thesis four semesters, in master program
without thesis three semesters. In the doctorate programs at least five
semesters of education is given.
